Every page in the Internet has its own title and this title helps the user and the search engine to know more about the content of that page its just like a title of a book.

Its important to have a good title for your page because when your page appears in the search results page the title tag will appear in the first line of the results , if the title is a good one the user will click on it .


Create a unique title for each page on your web site to avoid duplicated titles .


Also the title for the homepage can be the name of your website and you can add to it some important information like the location of your business or a few words describes what the site is offerings .


To add a title to a page on your website you need to add the <title>page title </title> tags under the <head> tag of the page HTML and before the closing tag </head> and replace Page Title with your page title.


<head> tag is an element that indicates the header in your page HTML and the content of this
element will not be displayed in a browser for users but the search engine can read it .

Example : 


<title>Brandon's Baseball Cards - Buy Cards, Baseball News, Card Prices</title>


The title of a homepage for a baseball card site which show the name and some information about the site .


If a user searched for "baseball cards" he will see the homepage shows up in the search result page with the title listed on the first line .


Notice that the query terms the user searched for will appear in bold font.


If the user visits the page he will see the page's title at the top of the browser.


You need to choose a title that describes the content of the page , The common mistake is choosing a title that has no relation to the content on the page and this will effect your SEO so choose the title wisely .


Don't use the default titles like Untitled or New Page. 


Create unique title tags for each page and don't use the same title for more than one page
Create a title that is  brief and descriptive at the same time and If the title is too long the search engine will show only a portion of it in the search result page .


Don't use unneeded keywords in your page title , Only use the keyword that really relevant to the content .
