What about like JavaScript, images, or Flash files ?
Search engines have difficulty accessing flash files,images and java script .its better to use a descriptive text for these items to improve the accessibility of the site .
Keep in mind that many visitors are using mobile browsers, browsers without plug-ins,screen readers and slow connections and they may not be able to view all contents so its recommended to add a descriptive text as well.
test your site’s accessibility by turning off JavaScript, Flash, and images in your browser or use a text-only browser such as Lynx.
